Flag debate rages on

The sight of hundreds of flags at Glastonbury is quite spectacular for anybody unlucky enough to be watching the festival from their armchair. But after complaints last year, Reading and Leeds banning them in August and Download announcing last week that there were to be no flags allowed this year, Glastonbury has put the great flag debate to the vote.

 

So far the race is neck and neck, with just 50.4% of the voters wanting to keep the flags. Stats released today show that out of the first 7,239 votes cast, over 4,000 were duplicates that gave the 'ban flags' supporters a majority of the vote (at 50.27%). Without the duplicates, fans of flags were in the majority, with 60.12% wanting them kept at the festival.

 

Glastonbury have announced that duplicates will not count in the final tally, no matter how determined they are.
